What does Parent Network do?

Parent Network strives to unite the parents in the independent school community by providing parent education programs and events, community forums, a website and newsletters. We also work to support the related efforts and programs of our member schools.

What is the relationship between Parent Network and The Parents’ Council Of Greater Baltimore?

In the spring of 2006, the Parents’ Council of Greater Baltimore changed its name to Parent Network. At the same time, we created a logo that better depicts our mission and revised our website to enhance the information flow between Parent Network, our member schools and the parents in the independent school community.

How can I find out more about Parent Network?

Each of our member schools has a Parent Network Representative who delivers information about programs and events through the communication channels at their school.  The list of member schools and representatives is available.  Parent Network also has an email communication chain for parents in our community.  If you would like to receive regular updates on events as well as our newsletters, you can add your name to our email list.

How do schools become a member of Parent Network?

All independent schools in the Greater Baltimore area can become members.  Please contact us for additional information.

How do parents join Parent Network?

Parents of students in member schools are automatically members.  See our volunteer page, or contact us to become more active.

How can I get actively involved?

As Parent Network is an all-volunteer organization, we have many volunteer opportunities and are always looking for volunteers to work with us. Join a committee, become a school representative by contacting your school’s Parents’ Association, or attend our programs.

What do the representatives do?

The representatives are the link between their school and Parent Network.  They are responsible for disseminating information about Parent Network programs and distributing Parent Network newsletters. Conversely, they enrich our programs by communicating with Parent Network about current parental issues within their school, including upcoming parent education programs. An event form is available to submit program information for the Parent Network calendar.

How are the representatives appointed?

This varies among our member schools. Many representatives are appointed by their Parents’ Association President, others are appointed by the Head of School. Ideally, each school has at least one representative per division: upper, middle, and lower school.

How is Parent Network funded?

Parent Network, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has several funding sources. We collect annual dues from our member schools. In addition, financial contributions from individuals and corporations in our community are essential to support our programs and underwrite our events, newsletter, and website maintenance.

Gifts of any size are always welcome. You can download an individual donor form or a corporate donor form to make a contribution.
